This course provides the student with instruction in the following areas contained in the National Standard Training Curriculum for Emergency Medical Technicians. Pathophysiology, assessment and management of adult and pediatric patients; medical, trauma, behavioral, obstetrical, gynecological emergencies.

Terminal Objectives:
At the completion of the program a student should be able to:
* Perform a complete pre-hospital patient assessment
* Explain current legal aspects of pre-hospital care
* Identify and treat common medical emergencies
* Identify and treat traumatically injured patients
* Identify and treat special patient populations (OB/GYN, Pediatrics, environmental emergencies, Geriatric)
* Identify the properties of approved pharmacological agents.
